John Adams is a native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and attended Cheyenne Mountain High School, where he helped lead the boys tennis team to three state championships and claimed two titles himself as an individual. 

Adams enrolled at Lake Forest College in 2009 and set single-season program records with 25 singles victories and 44 wins overall as a freshman. After capturing a Midwest Conference title at #3 singles his first year at the College, he accomplished the feat at #2 singles as a sophomore, #2 doubles as a junior, and #1 singles his senior season. He was also the league’s runner-up at the top spot in the doubles lineup twice and once at #2 singles. Adams captained the team during his final two years and was voted the Foresters’ Most Valuable Player as a senior. He finished his career with a 74-23 record in singles and 58-38 mark in doubles and was the program’s all-time leader in singles and overall victories for more than a decade. Lake Forest was 48-33 during his four years at the College. 

Also successful in the classroom, Adams earned Academic All-MWC accolades each of the three years he was eligible for the award and was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete after his senior season. The economics major and philosophy minor was also a member of the Omicron Delta Epsilon honor society. 

After graduating from Lake Forest College in 2013, Adams went on to a career in financial services.
