Sally Bevis is a native of Huntington, New York. She played youth hockey for the New Jersey Colonials and helped lead the team to a pair of state championships.

Bevis enrolled at Lake Forest College in 2003 and is one of the most accomplished goaltenders in the history of Forester Women’s Hockey. She was named the team’s Most Valuable Player her first two years at the College and earned Honorable Mention All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association recognition as a sophomore. The accolades continued with First Team All-NCHA honors in her final two seasons and, as a senior, she was the first player in program history to be named All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association. Bevis also served as a team captain as a senior and her .941 save percentage that season was the second-highest mark in the nation. At the time of her induction, her 2,048 career saves ranked second in team annals while her .917 save percentage and five shutouts were also among the all-time leaders. In addition, the 63 saves she made in a triumph over the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in the final game of her career were the most by a Forester in a regulation contest. The victory over River Falls came in the third-place game of the NCHA Tournament and Lake Forest’s regular season and playoff performances in the conference that year were the best in program history at that time.

Bevis graduated from Lake Forest College in 2007 with a degree in English and went on to a career as a human resources executive.
