The basketball team captured the Class B state title her senior year and she was the division’s top scorer that season.

Timmerman entered Lake Forest College in 1990 and continued to be an extremely successful two-sport athlete throughout her collegiate career. The Forester basketball team captured its first conference championship during her sophomore season and she captained the team to another league title and the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance two years later. Timmerman, who played guard and forward, was a First Team All-Midwest Athletic Conference for Women North Division selection and Lake Forest’s leading scorer and Most Valuable Player her final year at the College. She finished her career with more than 600 points, 350 rebounds, 150 assists, and 100 steals and the Foresters were 73-20 overall and 32-12 in league play during her four seasons. Timmerman was also an outside hitter on the volleyball team and captained the squad as a junior and senior. She was named the Foresters’ Most Improved Player her freshman year and earned Most Valuable Player and All-MACW North Division accolades after racking up a team-high 225 kills as a senior. Lake Forest was 62-52 and reached the semifinals of the MACW Tournament twice during her career. Timmerman closed out her time at the College by receiving the prestigious Nicholas J. Wasylik Senior Athletic Award in 1994.

After graduating from Lake Forest with a major in business and minor in Spanish, Timmerman was a United States Peace Corps volunteer and taught business basics to women small business owners in Nicaragua for three years. After returning to America, she worked in international sales and marketing for more than a decade before transitioning to roles in the non-profit sector in development.
