Box Score Members of the Lake Forest College men's tennis team earned second-place finishes at seven of nine positions in the lineup on Sunday at the Midwest Conference Individual Tournament.

The singles finals were played first and four Foresters had reached that round with their performance on Saturday. All four were forced to settle for runner-up finishes as freshman Time Pasea fell 6-2, 6-4 at the top spot in the lineup, senior George Ciuca dropped both sets 6-2 at #3, junior Rodrigo Cunha was edged out 6-4 in both sets, and freshman Zeke Bisharat was defeated 6-1, 7-5 at #6.

All three of Lake Forest's doubles teams prevailed in Sunday's semifinals before falling in the finals. Cunha and sophomore Felipe Moraes posted a narrow 8-6 victory at #1 in their first match of the day but lost by the same score in the final. An 8-2 triumph was followed by an 8-3 defeat for Ciuca and junior Bernardo Aguiar at #2. The Foresters' #3 tandem of Pasea and junior Daniel Fotiev rolled 8-1 in the semis before suffering an 8-5 loss in the final.

Aguiar and Ciuca now rank second in program history with 48 career wins as a doubles team. Ciuca is also second in team annals with 134 victories in singles and doubles combined while his 70 singles triumphs ranks third.

On Friday Lake Forest defeated Cornell College 4-0 and Grinnell College 4-3 to win the MWC Team Tournament for the first time since 1999. Along with the tournament title comes the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament, which begins on May 8, and the Foresters will find out their opening round opponent and the location of the match during a selection show to air on NCAA.com on Monday, May 4, at 11:30 a.m. (CT).
