Foresters Repeat as Runners-Up at SLIAC Championships

For the second straight season, the Lake Forest College women's golf team finished second at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. This year's three-day event ran from Sunday through Tuesday at Metamora Fields in Metamora, Illinois.

The Foresters' final score of 961 is the best 54-hole mark in team history, surpassing last year's total by nine strokes. Tuesday's 315 matched the program's third-lowest round and was just four shots off the school record they set on Monday.

Lake Forest had four of the top 17 players in the individual standings and were led by freshman Libby Hearst and juniors Sydney Foulon and Ashlyn Bhatia, who tied for 12th place at 241.Foulon was tje best of the three on Tuesday with a 78 while Hearst carded an 80 and Bhatia an 85. They earned Second Team All-SLIAC honors and their three-round totals rank third in team annals.

The best individual round of the tournament for the Foresters was Tuesday's two-over 74 posted by junior Gabrielle Krebs. She finished the round with three birdies in her last eight holes and placed 17th overall at 244, the sixth-best total in program history.

Fellow junior Alijah Campbell had two birdies late in her round of 83 on Tuesday and placed 25th in the field of 51 golfers with a 263.

The Foresters were two shots better than third-place Spalding University and 18 ahead of fourth-place Illinois College. All three teams were in second place at some point during the event's final day. Grinnell College finished first in the team standings by 88 strokes.

It was the final tournament of the fall semester for Lake Forest. The team's spring schedule will be announced at a later date.
