The Forester women's golf team began the 2024 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament with a score of 335 in Sunday's opening round.
Freshman
Libby Hearst was the team's top golfer with a 77, which matched her best round of the season. She carded back-to-back birdies on the 9th and 10th holes and finished just two strokes over par and tied for fourth place in the field of 51 players.
Junior
Ashlyn Bhatia also birdied the 420-yard, par-4 ninth hole and is tied for ninth place overall with an 80. Fellow juniors
Sydney Foulon and
Alijah Campbell rounded out the Foresters' top with at 87 and 91.
Playing as an individual, freshman Amanda Asley posted a score of 85 and is tied for 15th place.
Lake Forest finished day one just two strokes behind second-place Illinois College. Grinnell College is in first place with a 37-shot lead.
Monday's second round at Metamora Fields Golf Club will begin at 10:00 a.m. and Tuesday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
