School Record Round Lifts Lake Forest into Second on Day Two of SLIAC Championships

10/7/2024 5:06:00 PM

The Forester women's golf team turned in the best 18-hole score in program history in the second round of the 2024 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament on Monday.

Lake Forest's score of 311 was one shot better than the previous record set in round two of the Midwest Region Classic on September 21.

The team's best score on Monday came from junior Gabrielle Krebs, who carded three birdies on her way to a three-over 75. That matched the seventh-lowest mark for an individual in program history and she now owns four of the top nine rounds in team annals.

Just one shot behind Krebs on day two of the tournament were fellow juniors Ashlyn Bhatia and Sydney Foulon, who also had three birdies apiece on Monday. Bhatia is the top Forester and seventh overall in the team standings and her 12-over 156 at this point is the seventh-best 36-hole score in school history. Foulon is 16th in the field of 51 golfers with a two-day total of 163.

Freshman Libby Hearst, who led the Foresters with a 77 in Sunday's opening round, is now tied-for-13th overall at 161. Krebs is 22nd at 170 and junior Alijah Campbell 27th at 180.

Playing as an individual at the event is Lake Forest freshman Amanda Adley, who currently sits in 20th place with a score of 168.

The Foresters are a shot ahead of third-place Spalding University and nine clear of fourth-place Illinois College, which ranked second after Sunday's first round. Lake Forest also trails leader Grinnell College by 62.

Tuesday's third and final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
