Lake Forest Still Second after Day Two of SLIAC Championships

For the second day in a row, the Forester women's golf team posted the second-best score in the field at the 2023 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament.

Lake Forest's 323 on Monday is the third-best round in program history and five shots off the school record set on Sunday. The Foresters' two-day total of 641 is a new program record, 16 shots better than the previous one set in their last tournament two weeks ago.

Grinnell College is in first place with a two-day score of 599 and Spalding University is one place and nine shots behind the Foresters.

Sophomores Gabrielle Krebs and Sydney Foulon were Lake Forest's top players on Monday with matching scores of 5-over 77 on the 5,657-yard course at Metamora Fields in Metamora, Illinois. Krebs remains in third place in the individual standings while Foulon moved up 10 spots into a tie for 15th. At 150 after two days, Krebs has established a new 36-hole team record by three strokes.

Lake Forest sophomore Alijah Campbell had an 83 on Monday and is in 14th place at 162, a shot ahead of Foulon. At 166 and 174, respectively, fellow sophomores Ashleyn Bhatia and Niki Datangel are tied for 18th and 28th in the 54-player field.

Tuesday's third and final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
