With a school record score of 318, the Lake Forest College women's golf team is in second place after day one of three at the 2023 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament.
Sunday's round was two shots better than the previous mark set in September of 2019. The Foresters trail only Grinnell College, which has a 15-stroke lead, and are eight shots ahead of third-place Spalding University.
Sophomore
Gabrielle Krebs led Lake Forest in round one with a 1-over 73 on the 5,657-yard course at Metamora Fields in Metamora, Illinois. Her round included three birdies and she ranks third in the 56-player field, just two shots behind the co-leaders.
Fellow Forester sophomores
Alijah Campbell and
Ashlyn Bhatia are also in the top 20 with scores of 79 and 80, respecitvely, while classmates
Sydney Foulon and
Niki Datangel are tied-for-25th at 86.
The tournament will continue on Monday and Tuesday.
