Box Score 2 The Lake Forest College men's tennis team split its first two
home and Midwest Conference South Division matches of the season on
Saturday (April 3), falling 8-1 to Grinnell College and defeating
Illinois College 9-0. The Foresters are now 11-3 overall this
season. Grinnell also defeated Illinois College 9-0 and is now 13-3
overall and 1-0 in the league. Illinois College fell to 2-10
overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Lake Forest's lone victory against Grinnell was at #3 singles where
freshman John Adams
(Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain) won 6-4, 6-4 to extend
his winning streak to eight matches. The closest loss for the
Foresters came at #3 doubles where Adams and fellow freshman Kevin
Lasky (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont) fell 9-7.
The home team won convincingly at nearly every position against
Illinois College. Juniors Jon Flaksman
(Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and Elliot Muth
(New York, N.Y./Hill School) prevailed 8-5 at #1 doubles, senior Joe
Campagna (Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick) teamed with junior Chris
Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) for an 8-1 triumpm at #2,
and Adams and Lasky won 8-2 at #3.
Muth, Campagna, and Paterakos did not lose a game at #2, #4, and #5
singles, respectively. Flaksman recorded a 6-2, 6-1 victory at #1
and Adams won by the same score at #3. Sophomore Nick Cantor
(Providence, R.I./Wheeler School) finished off the sweep with a
6-2, 7-5 triumph at #6.
The Foresters will host Milwaukee School of Engineering at 4:00
Thursday afternoon (April 8).
