Box Score 2 The 2010 Lake Forest College men's tennis team became the
winningest squad in program history by defeating Elmhurst College
6-3 and St. Norbert College 5-4 on Sunday (April 18). The Foresters
are now 19-5 on the season with two more victories than the
previous record set by the 2000 team and matched in 2007. Elmhurst
also edged out St. Norbert 5-4 and is now 5-7 on the year. St.
Norbert fell to 11-17.
Lake Forest's #2 doubles team of senior Joe Campagna (Elmwood Park,
Ill./Fenwick) and junior Chris Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier)
extended its winning streak to seven matches and raised its record
on the season to 20-4 by posting 8-2 victories in both contests.
The home team's only other doubles point came when freshman John Adams (Colorado Springs, Colo./ Cheyenne Mountain) and Kevin Lasky
(Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont) blanked Elmhurst 8-0 at #3.
The Foresters earned team points at the middle four spots in the
singles lineup in both matches. Adams won 7-5, 7-5 against Elmhurst
and 6-4, 6-0 against St. Norbert at #2. Campagna posted a 6-2, 6-0
victory at #3 in the morning and a 6-3, 6-1 triumph later in the
day. Both players have now won six singles matches in a row and
Adams leads the team with a 21-3 mark on the year. Campagna is 16-6
this season and his 58 career singles victories are one more than
the previous team record set by Shane Bell 10 years ago. At #4,
Paterakos prevailed 6-4, 7-5 against Elmhurst and 6-0, 6-2 versus
St. Norbert. Lasky played at #5 singles and came out on top of a
6-3, 7-6 (7-2) decision against Elmhurst before recording a 6-4,
6-3 victory against St. Norbert.
Lake Forest will close out the regular season with two more home
matches next Sunday (April 25). The Foresters will host Wisconsin
Lutheran College at 9:00 a.m. and Ripon College at 3:00 in the
afternoon.
