Box Score 2 The Lake Forest College men's tennis team dropped an 8-0
decision to the University of Chicago and was defeated 7-2 by
Carthage College at home on Sunday (April 11). The Foresters fell
to 13-5 on the season. Chicago, the 17th-ranked team in the nation,
also posted a 7-2 victory over Carthage and is now 12-5 on the
year. Carthage is 9-6.
The closest match in the contest between Lake Forest and Chicago
was at #2 singles where Forester junior Elliot Muth (New York,
N.Y./Hill School) was defeated 6-3 in both sets.
Muth was also the only player on the home team to win in singles
against Carthage. He prevailed 7-2 in the first-set tiebreaker
before taking the second set 6-2.
The Foresters' other team point against the Red Men came at #2
doubles where senior Joe Campagna (Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick) and
junior Chris Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) won 8-3.
Lake Forest will continue a stretch of 10 home matches in a
nine-day span on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. when the team hosts Aurora
University. The Foresters will also take on Milwaukee School of
Engineering at the same time on Thursday (April 15) and will host
triangulars on Saturday and Sunday (April 17-18).
