Box Score 2 The Lake Forest College men's tennis team defeated Alma College
and host Adrian College 6-3 on Saturday (March 27) to improve to
9-2 on the season.
The Foresters started the afternoon by winning two of the three
doubles matches against Alma. Senior Joe Campagna
(Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick) and junior Chris
Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) prevailed 8-1 at #2 and
freshman John Adams
(Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain) and Kevin Lasky
(Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont) recorded an 8-3 triumph at #3.
Lake Forest also won at each of the top four positions in singles.
Junior Jon Flaksman
(Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) edged out the Scots' best player
6-7 (4-7), 6-2, (10-2). Adams (6-1, 6-1), Campagna (6-0, 6-2), and
Paterakos (6-2, 6-4) each posted more convincing victories at #2,
#3, and #4, respectively.
The score was also 2-1 in favor of the Foresters after doubles play
against Adrian. The winners were the same as in the first contest
of the day, with Campagna and Paterakos blanking their opponents
8-0 at #2 and Adams and Lasky doubling up their foes 8-4 at #3.
The doubles victory for Campagna was the 53rd of his career and he
has won 48 times in singles, giving him a program record 101 career
triumphs, one more than the previous mark set by Shane Bell in 2000
and matched by Andrew Fretter last year. Campagna is the Foresters'
all-time leader in doubles wins and ranks fifth in singles, nine
shy of the record.
Adams (6-1, 6-0) and Paterakos (6-2, 6-1) were again victorious at
#2 and #4 singles and Lasky won 6-4, 7-5 at #6 for his first career
singles victory. Campagna was ahead 6-1, 1-0 at #3 when his
opponent was disqualified.
The Foresters' next match will be Wednesday (March 31) at Concordia
University Chicago. The contest will begin at 4:00 p.m.
