Box Score 2 The Lake Forest College men's tennis team started the 2010
season with a 6-1 victory over Lakeland College and a 5-4 triumph
at Lawrence University on Saturday (February 13).
The Foresters swept the three doubles matches against Lakeland.
Juniors Jon Flaksman
(Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and Elliot Muth
(New York, N.Y./Hill School) prevailed 8-4 at the top spot in the
lineup while senior Joe Campagna
(Elmwood Park, Ill./Fenwick), and junior Chris
Paterakos (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) won by the same score at
#2. Freshman John Adams
(Colorado Springs, Colo./ Cheyenne Mountain) and Kevin Lasky
(Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont) earned their first collegiate victories
in an 8-3 decision at #3.
Muth came from behind to win 1-6, 6-2, (10-8) at #2 singles, Adams
did not lose a game at #3, and sophomore Nick Cantor
(Providence, R.I./Wheeler School) posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #6.
Matches at #4 and #5 singles were not finished due to time
constraints.
Lake Forest lost two of the three doubles matches against Lawrence.
Adams and Lasky earned a team point with an 8-6 triumph at #3.
The Vikings won at #1 and #4 singles to take a 4-1 lead in the
match but the Foresters prevailed in the other four singles matches
to win the contest. Adams finished his perfect day with a 6-0, 6-2
win at #3 and Muth edged out his opponent at #2 singles 7-5, 6-4.
Cantor tied the match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at #6 and Paterakos
completed the comeback with a 7-5, 6-2 triumph at #5.
It was the Foresters third consecutive 5-4 victory over
Lawrence.
Lake Forest will be in action again on Saturday, February 28, at
the Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford, Illinois. The Foresters will
face Judson University at noon and host Rockford College at 2:00
