Lake Forest College men's tennis player
Felipe Moraes was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday.
After falling to the nation's fifth-ranked team Saturday morning, the Foresters prevailed 5-2 at Oberlin College, a team significantly ahead of them in UTR rankings, in the afternoon. Moraes, a sophomore, teamed up with junior
Rodrigo Cunha at #1 doubles and their 12-10 tiebreaker victory secured the doubles point for the visitors.
Moraes also came out on top of a close match at #1 singles. After dropping the first set 6-2, he doubled up his opponent 6-3 in the second and 10-5 in the third set super tiebreaker to help Lake Forest finish off the victory.
Moraes is now 10-6 in singles and doubles combined this season and 43-24 in his collegiate career.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors.
