Box Score The Lake Forest College men's tennis team made its season debut at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Warhawk Fall Invite on Friday and Saturday.
Participants the event were placed in flights consisting of eight players or doubles teams.
Freshman
Zeke Bisharat prevailed in five of his six matches on the weekend, including all three to win flight 5 in singles. The most convincing of the three victories came in the final, where he rolled 6-1, 6-0. Bisharat also partnered with senior
George Ciuca and reached the final in flight two of doubles.
Ciuca was one of three Foresters to place fifth in a singles flight. After falling to the eventual runner-up in the opening round of flight two, he defeated his next opponent 6-4 in both sets before edging out out Lake Forest junior
Rodrigo Cunha 7-5, 1-6, (11-9) in the fifth-place match. Sophomore
Joao Espindola followed a similar path in flight four, where his finals victory was also a narrow one at 7-6 (8-6), 7-5. Freshman
Tim Pasea added another fifth-place finish in flight six, a journey that included a lopsided 6-1, 6-0 triumph in his second match.
Junior
Bernardo Aguiar and sophomore
Felipe Moraes competed in the top flight and placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
All five of the Foresters' doubles teams won their quarterfinal matches and therefore clinched a spot in the top four of the bracket. In addition to the runner-up performance in flight two by Ciuca and Bisharat, Moraes and Espindola finished third in flight one while junior
Daniel Fotiev and freshman
Alex Chin did the same in flight three.
Lake Forest will host Milwaukee School of Engineering on Thursday in the team's only dual match of the fall semester.
