The Lake Forest College women's golf team matched the fourth-best 36-hole score in program history en route to winning the Edgewood University Fall Invite on Sunday and Monday.
All five players in the Forester lineup placed among the top 17 at the 87-player, 20-team event. Their final score of 642 (+66) was six shots better than runner-up St. Norbert College, which started Monday's second round with a five-shot lead. Lake Forest's second-round score of 318 ranks tied-for-sixth in team annals while Sunday's 324 is tied-for-15th.
Leading the team on Monday and overall was senior
Gabrielle Krebs, who birdied three of four holes on the back nine and finished the day at 78. She was seventh overall at 158 while classmate
Sydney Foulon was tied-for-eight just one shot behind her after following up Sunday's 79 with an 80 in round two.
Freshman
Eva Kennedy had a season-best 80 in round one and was 11th overall with a 162. Fellow freshman
Sophie Smith and senior
Ashlyn Bhatia each finished Monday's round at 80 and tied for 14th place at 165 and 16th at 166, respectively,
Just four strokes separated all five members of the Forester lineup on Monday.
The event was Lake Forest's final tune-up before the team travels to St. Louis, Missouri, for the three-day St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament, which begins on Sunday.
