Tamlyn Tills and Sean O'Malley

Head Coach Change for Forester Women's Golf

8/7/2025 2:20:00 PM

Lake Forest College Assistant Vice President for Athletics Jim Catanzaro recently announced that Tamlyn Tills will be returning to the position of head women's golf coach, replacing Sean O'Malley in that role. Tills and O'Malley will remain the head coaches of the Forester women's basketball and men's hockey teams, respectively.

"We have been fortunate to have two great coaches lead our women's golf team over the last 11 years," began Catanzaro. "I'm extremely grateful to Coach O'Malley for all he has done for the program as head coach and I know its success will continue under Coach Tills."

Tills served as the women's golf team's head coach for the program's first three years and O'Malley the last eight with Tills as associate head coach.

The Foresters have finished among the top teams in the league in nearly every year of the program's existence. After placing fifth at the Midwest Conference Championships as a first-year program in 2014, Lake Forest climbed a spot in the standings to fourth in 2015, moved up another place to third in 2016 and 2017, and was the runner-up in 2018. Lake Forest changed leagues in 2020 and has averaged better than a third-place finish in five St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournaments with a top placing of second each of the last two seasons and in the spring of 2021.

The team had 19 all-conference performances in the program's first 11 seasons with at least one player in the top five at the league championships in all but three years.

The Foresters have also been successful in the classroom with 28 SLIAC All-Academic or Academic All-MWC awards in program history.

"I take great pride in having been a part of Forester Women's Golf since the program began," noted Tills. "I'm also looking forward to leading this year's team in particular with a focused, talented, and hard-working group of players who are determined to perform at a high level."
