1/7/2025 11:00:00 AM

College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2024 Academic All-District® Football Teams on Tuesday and eight Foresters were recognized.

To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale at their current institution and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. They also must compete in at least 90 percent or start at least two-thirds of their team's games.

The Foresters honored were quarterback Michael Kasemervisz; defensive backs Albin Arulanandu and Thomas DeChesaro; defensive linemen Mark Rice and Kyle Shalati; and linebackers Jacob Cutler, Jackson Gehrisch, and Blake Ware.

The only Lake Forest player on the list from the offensive side of the ball, Kasemervicz appeared in 10 of the team's 11 games and posted a 140.25 pass efficiency rating. He helped lead the Foresters to a 42-35 victory over defending Midwest Conference champion Illinois College in his only start of the season. The sophomore business major was an Academic All-MWC honoree in 2023.

Arulanandu is a senior business and communication double-major who has been named Academic All-MWC each of the last three seasons. This fall he saw action in every game, made five tackles at Cornell College in his first career start, and recorded his first interception against Knox College on Homecoming.

DeChesaro started every game at safety. The junior picked off three passes for the second straight season, ranked third on the team with 61 tackles, and added four pass breakups and a forced fumble. He matched his career-high with 13 tackles in the team's 35-28 league title-clinching victory over Monmouth College. A business major, DeChesaro was also a CSC Academic All-District® honoree a year ago and has twice been named Academic All-MWC.

Rice was also a CSC Academic All-District® selection for the second year in a row and is a three-time Academic All-MWC honoree. The senior played in every game and started all but one at defensive end and finished the season with 26 tackles, including 6.0 tackles for loss. Two of his four sacks on the year came during the team's shutout of Ripon College.

Shalati also played in every game on the defensive line and had 19 tackles, including 6.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks. He finished the team's victory at Lawrence University with a career-high four tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks. The senior education and history double-major earned Academic All-MWC accolades in both of his previous two years on the team.

Cutler started the opener against Wisconsin Lutheran and served as a linebacker and the team's snapper on punts in every game this season. He tallied nine tackles on the year, including four in that start. A senior economics major, Cutler is a three-time Academic All-MWC selection.

Gehrisch, a senior, has seen time at safety and linebacker and on special teams during his career. He played in every game this season, made six tackles, and picked off a pass at Lawrence. He is majoring in business and is a two-time Academic All-MWC honoree.

Ware started every game at linebacker and led Lake Forest with 68 tackles this season, including 6.0 tackles for loss. The sophomore reached double figures in stops twice, including a season-high 11-tackle performance at Bethel University in the NCAA Tournament. The finance major joined the other honorees with Academic All-MWC distinction in 2023-24.

The 2024 Foresters posted a 10-1 overall record and claimed the program's third MWC title in the last four years with a perfect 9-0 mark in league play. They also appearaed in the second round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs for the first time in program history.
