11/17/2025 3:00:00 PM

Lake Forest College football players Hudson Schambach and Brayden Long were named Midwest Conference Special Teams and Offensive Performer of the Week, respectively, on Monday after helping lead the Foresters to a 34-28 victory over the University of Chicago on Saturday.

Schambach accounted for 10 of Lake Forest's points in the contest. In addition to making all four of his extra points, the sophomore connected on a 44-yard field goal on the final play of the second quarter to make the score 17-7. He also split the uprights from 25 yards out to start the scoring in the second half. In addition, Schambach averaged 61.5 yards on his six kickoffs with a pair of touchbacks.

Schambach's 75 points this fall are the most by a Forester kicker in program history. Meanwhile, his nine field goals ranks tied-for-second in team annals and his 48 extra points third.

After Chicago closed to within six points at 20-14 in the third quarter, Long matched the longest run in school history on the next play from scrimmage when he out-sprinted the Maroons to the end zone from 92 yards out. The sophomore running back also scored on a 3-yard run earlier in the contest and finished the game with 138 rushing yards on just 14 attempts.

Long's average yards per carry this year actually decreased on Saturday and settled at 11.4 for the season. He carried the ball 24 times for 347 yards and five touchdowns in three November contests.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors.
