Lake Forest Tied for Fourth after Round Two of SLIAC Championships

The Forester men's golf team improved by 11 strokes from day one to two at the 2024 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Monday's score of 293 has Lake Forest tied for fourth in the team standings.

A pair of Foresters find themselves among the league's top players going into Tuesday's final round. Freshman Tyler Schick started and ended Monday's round with birdies and added two more in between during his 1-under round of 70. He climbed into a tie for sixth place with a 36-hole total of 146. One stroke ahead of Schick and tied-for-fourth overall is Lake Forest sophomore Ben Shamberg, who recorded an eagle on three and also closed with a birdie on 18. Monday's 72 gave him a two-round total of 145, which ranks tied-for-seventh in team annals.

Senior Tyler Nielsen finished Monday's round in 75 strokes, one fewer than junior Luke Duffer and two ahead of junior Chris Petri. Nielsen is now tied-for-25th in the 65-player field at 153, Petri tied-for-27th at 154, and Duffer tied-for-38th at 158.

The Foresters' second round score of 293 ranks tied-for-5th in program history while their 36-hole total of 597 is fourth. They are tied with Illinois College for fourth place with Webster University, Mississippi University for Women, and Spalding University sharing the lead at 584.

Tuesday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
