Lake Forest Posts Best 36-Hole Score in Program History

The Forester women's golf team's score of 657 at Friday and Saturday's Midwest Region Classic was a school record by four strokes. Lake Forest tied for 11th in the 33-team tournament.

Friday's round of 326 is now the third-best 18-hole total in team annals while Saturday's 331 ranks tied-for-fifth. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater won the event at 623, five shots better than runner-up Adrian College. The Foresters' five sophomores were tied with Central College and just four strokes away from the top eight in the standings.

Gabrielle Krebs tied for team-best honors in both rounds with an 80 on Friday and an 81 on Saturday to match her season-best two-day total. She had a birdie and eight pars in each round and finished tied for 28th place out of 192 golfers.

Sydney Foulon was two shots behind Krebs on day one before matching her in round two and finishing 42nd at 163. She also had a birdie in each round and finished the weekend with 14 pars.

After carding a career-low 80 in the opening round, Niki Datangel finished day two with an 84 and tied for 43rd in the field. Ashlyn Bhatia was the team's fourth scorer with an 84 on Friday and Alijah Campbell filled that role with an 85 on Saturday.

The tournament was played on the 5,637-yard par-72 Blue Spruce Course at Brighton Dale Links in Kansasville, Wisconsin.

Lake Forest will compete in the Judson Invite on Tuesday.
