The Lake Forest College women's golf team began the 2023-24 season by placing seventh at the 17-team Battle on the Border over the weekend. The event was hosted by Carthage College at Bristol Oaks Country Club in Bristol, Wisconsin.
Sophomore
Gabrielle Krebs led the Foresters and placed 10th out of 102 players overall with a two-day score of 165. She carded a 79 on Friday and an 86 on Saturday on the 5,836-yard, par-72 course.
The next four Foresters are also sophomore and posted scores within two shots of each other.
Alijah Campbell tied for 39th place with a score of 177, on stroke ahead of
Niki Datangel, who tied for 42nd.
Ashlyn Bhatia and
Sydney Foulon tied for 44th at 179.
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater finished first as a team with a score of 633, 12 strokes better than runner-up Aurora University. The Foresters tally of 695 was good for seventh place, just behind North Central College and ahead of Marian University.
Lake Forest will play in the Marian Invite next weekend with Friday's round starting at 11:00 a.m. and Saturday's at 9:30 a.m.
