Foresters Break School Record Again to Win WLC Spring Invitational

A day after posting the lowest round in program history with a 294, the Lake Forest College men's golf team shattered that mark with a 1-over 289 to win Saturday's WLC Spring Invitational.

The Foresters finished five strokes ahead of runner-up Carthage College and had four of the top 17 players in a field of 71 golfers. The tournament was hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College on the 6,802-yard par-72 course at Morningstar Golfer's Club in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Sophomore Max Golding and senior Jack Dwyer led the team and were a shot under par with matching rounds of 71. Golding's round featured three birdies and just two bogeys. Dwyer needed just three shots to complete the 554-yard par-5 first hole and finished his round with a birdie on 10. They tied for fourth place overall.

Lake Forest junior Ryan Higgins tied for ninth place with a 1-over 73. He was second in the field with 14 pars and holed out for a two on the 383-yard par-4 ninth hole.

Senior James Johnson, who was 3-under in his last two holes on Friday, was two-under over his last seven at Morningstar. He finished tied-for-13th overall with a 74.

The team's top player on Friday, sophomore Chris Petri, was fifth on the team and tied-for-22nd overall with a 76 on Saturday. He was one of four Foresters to finish the two events in fewer than 150 combined strokes.

After a day off, Lake Forest will compete in the Carthage Spring Invitational on Monday.
