Foresters Finish Fifth at Aurora Double Gun

The Lake Forest College men's golf team played 36 holes and placed fifth at the 19-team Aurora Double Gun on Tuesday. A second Forester fivesome placed 15th at the event.

Jack Lee was the team's top finisher, completing his first trip around the Aurora Country Club course with an even-par 72 and his second in just 70 strokes to tie for second overall. He was 4-under on the par-5s and just five of the other 105 players in the tournament had more than his 24 pars on the day. Lee's 142 matched the eighth-best 36-hole score in team history.

Tyler Wengronowitz was next on the squad and tied-for-seventh overall at 146. At 1-under on the par-3s, he tied for the best score in the field and his second round featured four consecutive birdies beginning on hole 14.

With an opening round 77 and 76 the second time through, Tyler Schick was third on the team and tied-for-25th overall. Tyler Poker posted back-to-back 79s to complete the top four.

Matt Choi led the Foresters' second team and tied for 31st in the field at 154. He also turned in that group's best 18-hole score with a 74 in round two. Jack Kennedy was just three strokes behind Choi on the day and closed with a 76.

Aurora had the top two teams in the tournament with final scores of 575 and 594. Third-place University of Wisconsin-Stout was two shots better than Lake Forest's 599 and Augustana College was one stroke ahead of the Foresters. 

Lake Forest will be back in action on Sunday and Monday at the Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational at the Eau Claire Country Club in Altoona, Wisconsin.
