The Lake Forest College men's golf team moved up three spots in the standings on Tuesday to become the runner-up at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament.

The event was played on the 6,550-yard, par-72 course at Polo Fields Golf and Country Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

Trailing Fontbonne University by two strokes, Knox College by four, and Illinois College by seven after Monday's first and second rounds, the Foresters passed all three but were unable to catch league champion Webster University, whose 54-hole score of 906 won the tournament by 32 shots.

The Foresters had a pair of all-conference honorees in juniors James Johnson and Jack Dwyer. Johnson's 78 on Tuesday gave him a three-day total of 229, good for fifth place in the 54-player field and First Team All-SLIAC status. Dwyer carded a team-best 76 in the final round, tied for 10th overall at 233, and earned Second Team All-SLIAC honors. Johnson played his last 10 holes of the tournament in 1-over while Dwyer was even over his final 13. Their 54-hole scores rank sixth and ninth in program history.

Fellow junior Connor Lindley needed 82 shots to finish his final round and placed 18th in the field with a score of 238. Freshman Luke Duffer's 79 on Tuesday lifted him into 25th place at 241 while sophomore Ryan Higgins was 10 shots behind him and 37th overall.

Lake Forest's 156 pars over the course of three rounds were the most of any team in the tournament and four Foresters finished among the top nine individuals in that category. Johnson played the course's four par-5s in 1-over while only two players performed better than Lindley (+3) on the four par-3s.

The Foresters' runner-up finish was a slight improvement over last year's third-place performance.

The team will not lose any players to graduation in May.
