Lake Forest sent a partial squad just north of the state line on Friday to close out the indoor season at the Carthage Final Qualifier.
Just two members of the men's team made the trip and both competed in the mile. Senior Philip Wilson finished eighth in the 26-runner field with a time of 4:36.22 while junior Nicholas Dodds completed his eight laps around the track in 5:56.76.
Freshman Madeline Morland and senior Molly Gniady turned in the top performances for the Forester women, placing second in the 800 (2:26.45) and 3000 (11:43.86), respectively. Senior Jessica Heard was 13th in the 800 with a time of 3:13.48 and Susan Guo finished sixth in the 3000 in 14:38.16.
Senior Monica Redfern was in a pair of events, placing 10th in the 200 in 30.21 seconds and sixth in the 400 in 1:07.27. She finished the latter race just .04 seconds ahead of classmate Lauren Giurini and now ranks fifth in program history in that event.
Junior Tianna Beilke was the team's lone representative in the mile, where she posted a career-best time of 6:27.38.
Lake Forest had two women's 4x400 relay teams, one that placed second in 4:39.82 and the other sixth in 5:02.10.
The Foresters will open the outdoor season at the Wheaton Invitational on April 4.
