Foresters Prevail in Overtime at North Park

Box Score

Junior Kayla Wuest scored in the fourth minute of overtime to give the Lake Forest College women's soccer team a 2-1 victory at North Park University Wednesday night.

It was the second goal of the season for Wuest, who took a pass from freshman Emma Byrne and sent the ball over the goalkeeper and into the far side of the net from 25 yards out. It was Wuest's third career game-winner.

After a scoreless opening half, the home team took the lead less than five minutes into the second.

The Foresters answered with just 19:08 to play in regulation. Wuest crossed a ball in front of the keeper where senior Lindsay Hartup and the defender each got a foot on it at least once before it rolled into the left side of the goal. It was Hartup's second goal of the season.

Lake Forest out-shot the Vikings 19-10 on the night.

The victory was the 39th in the career of Forester senior goalkeeper Rachel Tenuta, who now needs just four more wins to match the program record set by Kristyne Operzedek a decade ago. She had three saves in the first half and one in the second.

Lake Forest is now 3-2-0 this season while North Park fell to 1-4-0.

The Foresters will begin Midwest Conference play on Sunday against visiting St. Norbert College. The contest will begin at 3:30 p.m.
