Lake Forest Wins in Double-Overtime at Concordia Wisconsin

Box Score

The Forester women's soccer team needed two extra periods but finally defeated host Concordia University Wisconsin 2-1 on Saturday. Lake Forest junior goalkeeper Bri Schleibinger made nine saves in the double-overtime victory.

The Foresters led 1-0 at the end of the first half, despite being out-shot 12-4 in the period. Junior Lisa Sorensen scored the only goal of the period, her first of the season, at the 14:29 mark. Schleibinger stopped all six shots on goal she faced in the half.

Concordia Wisconsin had a 5-4 edge in shots during the second half and tied the game at the 69:19 mark. Schleibinger made three more saves in the period.

Lake Forest held the Falcons without a shot in either overtime. The Foresters attempted three shots and put two on goal in the first 10-minute overtime period but were unable to score.

Sorensen deflected a free kick from freshman Michele Giurovici nearly two-and-a-half minutes into the second overtime and freshman Megan O'Connor kicked it in for the game-winning goal. It was O'Connor's second goal of the year and both were game-winners.

Lake Forest will travel to Benedictine University Monday night for a 7:00 p.m. game.
