The Lake Forest College women's soccer team fell 4-3 to visiting
Concordia University Wisconsin on Thursday. Sophomore Becky Esrock
scored three goals in the contest for her fourth career hat
trick.
Concordia Wisconsin took the early lead just just two minutes
and 25 seconds into the game. The Falcons also added a goal less
than four minutes later and, despite being out-shot 10-6 in the
opening period, still led 2-0 at halftime.
The visitors extended their lead to three goals at the 60-minute
mark.
The Foresters finally got on the scoreboard at
64:14. Esrock's first goal of the game was assisted by
sophomore Olivia Davis.
Concordia Wisconsin, however, regained its three-goal advantage
at the 67:17 mark.
Esrock struck again after passes from junior Isabel Brown and
sophomore Lisa Sorensen with 8:29 to play in the contest. She
completed the hat trick with her team-high ninth goal of the season
with just 9.7 ticks left on the clock. Senior Emily Weber earned
the assist.
The Foresters attempted 24 shots and put 10 on goal. Eight of
the Falcons' 12 shots were on target.
Sorensen and Esrock are now tied for the team lead with 22
points apiece.
Lake Forest fell to 6-2 overall and will put their 3-0-0 Midwest
Conference record on the line at St. Norbert College on Saturday.
