Sopomore Becky Esrock scored her second goal of the game in
overtime to lead the Forester women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory
at Lawrence University. Lake Forest is now 6-1-0 overall and 3-0-0
in Midwest Conference play.
The Foresters fell behind early when Lawrence scored 10 minutes
and 41 seconds into the contest. The defecit was short-lived,
however, as Lake Forest sophomore Lisa Sorensen scored her
team-high eighth goal of the season just 49 seconds later.
Sophomore Isabel Brown earned an assist on the play.
Neither team scored again until the 61st minute when the Vikings
regained the lead. Esrock tied the game again less than three
minutes later with senior Bianca Greene credited with an
assist.
Esrock's game-winner was unassisted and ended the contest nine
minutes into the first overtime.
Lake Forest sophomore goalkeeper Bri Schleibinger recorded a
career-high-tying 10 saves to earn the victory.
The Foresters will host a non-conference game against Concordia
University Wisconsin Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The team will then
resume MWC play at St. Norbert College Saturday afternoon at
1:00.
