The Lake Forest College women's soccer team moved to 5-0-0 on
the season by defeating visiting Ripon College 5-0 on Saturday. The
Foresters are also 2-0-0 in Midwest Conference play. Sophomore Amanda
Greco closed out the scoring and became the 11th different
Forester with at least one goal on the year.
Lake Forest sophomore Lisa
Sorensen factored in each of the game's first three goals for
the fourth time this season. She netted the only score of the first
half by kicking in a rebound at the 15:44 mark. Senior Emily Weber's
header off a corner kick by senior Bianca
Greene was saved by the Ripon goalie but the ball bounced to
Sorensen, who gave the home team the lead.
Sorensen scored for the second time in the game and seventh time
this season six minutes and three seconds into the second half.
Fellow sophomore Becky Esrock
sent the ball her way and, after evading a couple of Ripon
defenders, Sorensen kicked it past the goalie for the score. The
two players switched roles on the Foresters' next goal, Esrock's
third of the year, exactly seven minutes later. It was Sorensen's
team-high fifth assist of the season, breaking a tie with
Esrock.
Senior Molly Shaw sent
a free kick into the left corner of the goal at 64:11. Her second
score of 2010 made the score 4-0. Greco put the ball in a similar
spot with seven minutes to play to close out the scoring. She was
assisted by freshman Lauren
Morford and became the 11th Forester to score a goal in just
five games this season.
Lake Forest will play a pair of road games next week, beginning
with a non-conference contest Tuesday night at 7:00 at North Park
University. The Foresters will resume MWC play next Saturday
afternoon at 1:30 at Lawrence University.
