The Forester women's soccer team hosted and defeated Concordia
University 7-0 on Wednesday. It was the first game of 2010 for both
teams and Lake Forest's 11th victory in its last 12 season
openers.
Lake Forest sophomore Lisa Sorensen scored a pair of goals and
added an assist in the contest. She and classmate Becky Esrock
assisted senior Bianca Greene on the game's first goal after just
55 seconds of play and Sorensen added scores of her own at 5:40 and
13:52. Sophomore Isabel Brown assisted on Sorensen's first goal and
freshman Courtney Garth the second.
Senior Emily Weber made the score 4-0 at 27:48 with sophomore
Amanda Greco recording the first of her two assists on the day.
Freshman Blake Davies assisted fellow rookie Courtenay Raymond at
33:47 and Greco set up sophomore Hailey Schleibinger on the final
goal of the first half at 39:50.
The only score of the second half came off the foot of freshman
Lauren Morford at 76:04. Senior C.C. Hayne recorded an assist on
the play for her first career point.
Sophomore goalkeeper Bri Schleibinger blanked the Cougars in the
first half to earn the victory and classmate Angie Chronis made a
pair of saves in the second half in her collegiate debut.
The team will begin Midwest Conference play at Knox College
Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
