The Lake Forest College women's soccer team hosted and defeated
Alverno College 5-0 on Sunday (September 20). The Foresters raised
their record on the season to 4-3-0 while the Inferno fell to
3-4-0.
The home team wasted little time getting on the scoreboard.
Freshman Lisa
Sorensen (Muskegon, Mich./Western Michigan Christian) scored
her first goal of two goals in the game just four minutes into the
contest. Junior Bianca
Greene (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica) was credited with
the assist. Freshman Becky Esrock
(St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) netted her team-high ninth goal
of the year at 8:10 with sophomore Isabel Brown
(Tucson, Ariz./Tucson Magnet) and junior Christine
Sorensen (Norton Shores, Mich./Grand Haven) earning assists.
The first career goal by freshman Hailey
Schleibinger (Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond Burton) with just
1:44 remaining in the opening period made the score 3-0 at
halftime.
Lisa Sorensen scored her second goal of the game and fifth this
season just 74 seconds into the second half. Esrock earned the
assist. Senior Emily Sadler
(Everett, Wash./Cascade Senior) finally closed out the scoring with
her first goal of the season at 83:02. Greene recorded her
team-high seventh assist of the year on the play.
Forester freshmen Bri
Schleibinger (Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond Burton) recorded
three saves in the first half and Caitlin
Connors (Dover, Mass./Dover-Sherborn) added two in the second
to preserve the shutout.
Lake Forest will host another non-conference game against Carthage
College on Wednesday (September 23) at 4:30 p.m. The Foresters will
resume league play against Lawrence University next Sunday
afternoon (September 27) at 1:00. A live video webcast of the game
