The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference released its end-of-season awards for women's lacrosse on Thursday and league champion Lake Forest had several honorees.
NACC Midfielder of the Year honors went to Forester senior
Shannon Gibbons, who ranked second in the league with 54 draw controls, fifth with 39 ground balls, tied-for-sixth with 23 caused turnovers, and seventh with 37 points (20 goals, 17 assists) during the team's nine-game conference schedule. She was the only player in the league to be listed among the top 10 in each of those categories. Gibbons was also named First Team All-NACC this season after being an honorable mention selection a year ago.
Lake Forest also had the NACC Goalkeeper of the Year in senior
Cecilia Adams. Adams turned away 55 of the 95 shots on goal she faced during league play and her .579 save percentage was easily the highest mark in the conference. She was also second among regular goalies in the NACC with a 6.67 goals against average.
The other major award for the Foresters went to the Head Coach Casey Adams and Assistant Coach
Maya DeGeorge, who were named NACC Coaching Staff of the Year. They led the team to a conference title with a perfect 9-0 record during the league's regular season. It was the second straight season Ryan earned the honor and her team is now 18-0 in the NACC since joining the conference.
Joining Gibbons and Adams as First Team All-NACC honorees was senior attacker
Emma Sharp, who was listed among the league's best for the second year in a row. Her 20 assists in conference play were just one shy of the league lead and she tied for second with 47 points and sixth with 27 goals. No other NACC player had at least 20 goals and assists during the conference slate.
Seniors
Claire Aimone and
Daulath Khan and junior
Ella Maher were Second Team All-NACC selections on Thursday. Aimone, who earned the same honor a year ago, ranked 15th in the league with 16 caused turnovers and helped lead a defense that allowed the second-fewest goals in the conference. Khan tied for seventh in the conference with 11 assists and 10th with 21 goals despite missing two of the nine games due to injury. She also finished among the top 20 in the NACC with 15 draw controls. Maher's 27 draw controls were the 11th-highest total in the league and she was also 15th with 28 points on 20 goals and 8 assists.
Honorable Mention All-NACC accolades went to Forester freshmen
Madison DeGeorge and
Audrey Kroeger. DeGeorge finished among the league leaders with 20 draw controls and added 15 goals and 15 ground balls during conference play. Kroeger ranked eighth in the NACC with 35 points, ninth with 23 goals, and sixth with a dozen assists.
In the last two seasons Lake Forest has had the NACC Attacker, Midfielder, Defender, and Goalkeeper of the Year once each and Foresters have earned seven First Team, five Second Team, and four Honorable Mention All-NACC honors.
