4/28/2026 4:19:00 PM

The Lake Forest College men's golf team placed third at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament, which concluded on Tuesday.

The day started with teams playing the final 5-6 holes of round two, which was suspended on Monday due to weather. The Foresters were in third place at that point and were unable to catch eventual champion Grinnell College or runner-up Mississippi University for Women in round three. Lake Forest's final score of 892 ranks third in program history.

Lake Forest's top finisher at the event was junior Tyler Wengronowitz, who carded a 2-under 70 in a final round performance highlighted by an eagle on the 525-yard par-5 ninth hole. He earned First Team All-SLIAC honors by tying for second place in the 64-player field. Wengronowitz's score of 216 is the program's sixth-lowest 54-hole total and he now owns three of the top six entries on that list.

Freshman Jack Lee was next on the team on Tuesday with a 74 while junior Tyler Schick posted a 75, sophomore Nate Choi a 76, and senior Ben Shamberg a 78. Shick and Lee were named Second Team All-SLIAC after placing 11th with a score of 222 and 16th at 226, respectively.

The conference tournament was the final event of the season for the Foresters, who turned in the best scoring average in school history at 298.24.
