4/21/2026 2:06:00 PM

Behind a first-place individual finish by junior Tyler Wengronowitz, the Lake Forest College men's golf team placed fourth at Millikin University's Butts Classic on Monday and Tuesday. The tournament was played on the 6,639-yard par-72 course at the Country Club of Decatur.

Wengronowitz had a 73 and 69 in the event's first two rounds on Monday. He was second in the 82-player field at that point and finally took the lead with a birdie on the final hole that gave him an even-par score for the day and a 2-under 214 for the tournament. The junior had 10 birdies in the three rounds combined and matched the second-best 54-hole score in program history.

Senior Ben Shamberg was next on the team and tied-for-25th overall with a score of 226. He turned in one of the field's 25 eagles during Monday's second round and had his best 18-hole score of the tournament with a 74 on Tuesday. Shamberg tied for first among all players with 38 pars at the event.

Forester sophomore Nate Choi finished just one shot behind Shamberg on Tuesday and for the tournament. With one birdie and one bogey, he led the entire field with a score of even-par on the par-3s and was tied-for-27th overall at 227.

Lake Forest freshman Jack Lee also placed in the top half of the field with a final score of 229, which was tied-for-35th in individual standings.

The Foresters' final tally of 896 is the third-best three-round score in school history. Only Carthage College and a pair of lineups from Illinois Wesleyan University, the ninth-ranked team in the nation, were better.

The event was Lake Forest's last before traveling to Far Oaks Country Club in Caseyville, Illinois, for the three-day St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Champiopnship Tournament, which begins on Sunday.
