Runner-Up Finish for Hosts at Forester Spring Invite

The Forester Spring Invite was held on the Prairie Course at Countryside Golf Club in nearby Mundelein on Friday and Saturday. Lake Forest fielder a pair of teams with the top one placing second and the other 17th in the 19-team field.

Junior Tyler Schick was the Foresters' top player at the event, placing eighth out of 105 competitors in the field. He finished Friday's opening round two shots under par before playing in 1-over on Saturday. His final score of 143 matched the 11th-best 36-hole total in team history. Schick carded seven birdies at the event and played the tournament's par-5s in four shots under par.

Joining Schick at two shots under par on Friday was sophomore Tyler Poker and freshman Jack Lee. Lee finished the weekend a shot behind Schick and tied-for-ninth overall. He was the best in the field on the par-3s, playing them in two shots under par.

The Foresters' best score on Saturday was sophomore Nate Choi's even-par 72, which included three birdies and three bogeys. He and junior Tyler Wengronowitz were 3-over and tied-for-17th in the tournament.

Lake Forest's final score of even-par 576 was the fourth-best two-day total in school history and the squad's 6-under 282 on Friday was the program's fourth best round.

The Foresters' second team was led by senior Ben Shamberg, who had a 1-over 73 in the opening round and a 4-over 76 in the second. His performance on Saturday featured a dozen consecutive pars and he tied for 25th place overall.

The next event on Lake Forest's schedule is Millikin University's Butts Classic on Monday and Tuesday.
