Lake Forest College women's lacrosse player Shannon Gibbons was named Northern Athletics Collegoate Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday after helping lead the Foresters to a pair of convincing victories last week.

Gibbons led all players with seven ground balls, five caused turnovers, and nine draw controls as Lake Forest prevailed 16-6 at Edgewood University last Wednesday. She also scored twice and added three assists to her diverse stat line on the day.

The Foresters improved to 6-0 in league play with a 15-9 win at Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday. Gibbons tied for team-high honors with five draw controls and added a ground ball, caused turnover, and assist in the contest.

Gibbons leads Lake Forest with 47 draw controls and ranks second on the squad with 34 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers on the season. She is also fourth on the team with 28 points on 14 goals and 14 assists.

NACC Players of the Week are selected by a committee of sports information directors within the league.
