With a 17-3 victory over Cornell College at home on Saturday, the Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team clinched at least a share of the 2026 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference championship and secured the top seed in the NACC Tournament.
The game was tied 3-3 early in the second period before the Foresters scored 14 unanswered goals, beginning with a man-up score for senior
Shannon Gibbons with 10:18 to play in the half. Gibbons scored again later in the contest, assisted on three goals, and led all players in the contest with eight ground balls, six draw controls, and three caused turnovers.
Sophomore
Avery Srnka, whose career high for goals in a game entering the day was three, scored that many in each half on Saturday. Her back-to-back scores before halftime made it a 7-3 game at the break and she struck two more times in the third quarter and once in the fourth as the Foresters continued to pull away.
Lake Forest senior
Emma Sharp scored four times on the day to raise her team-high total this season to 40 and added an assist to raised her career point total to 275, which is just 27 shy of the program record. In addition, three-point performances were turned in by junior
Ella Maher, who had two tallies and an assist, and freshman
Audrey Kroeger, who accounted for one goal herself and set up two others.
The Foresters' last line of defense also excelled on Saturday as senior
Cecilia Adams stopped 11 of the Rams' 14 shots on goal to raise her save percentage on the season to .495.
Gibbons, Sharp, and Adams were joined by classmates
Addison Kennally,
Claire Aimone,
Isabel Bersie, and
Daulath Khan in a short pregame Senior Day ceremony.
The victory was Lake Forest's sixth in a row, matching the third-longest winning streak in program history, and raised the team's overall record to 10-4 and league mark to 8-0. Cornell fell to 5-9 overall and 4-4 in the conference.
The Foresters can secured their second NACC title in as many years in the league with a victory in Tuesday's regular season finale against Illinois Institute of Technology. The game will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Farwell Field.
