Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Foresters Win by 10 at Edgewood, Remain Perfect in NACC Play

Behind a career-high seven points from freshman Audrey Kroeger, the Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team prevailed 16-6 at Edgewood College on Wednesday.

Kroeger started the game's scoring two-and-a-half minutes into the contest and had a goal in each quarter. She also set up a score in the second, third, and fourth and is now second on the team with 20 goals and tied-for-third with 27 points this season.

Fellow freshman Gracia Muñoz added to visitors' early lead but a pair of tallies from the Eagles made it a 2-2 game at the end of the opening period.

The next five goals were score by five different Foresters, beginning with senior Emma Sharp. Sophomore Avery Srnka, junior Ella Maher, senior Shannon Gibbons, and Kroeger continued the run and, after Edgewood trimmed the margin to four, Maher restored the five-goal cushion with her second of the day and 18th this year in the final few seconds of the half.

Lake Forest outscored the Eagles 3-2 in the third quarter with Sharp striking twice and Kroeger once. Sharp added an assist in the fourth and leads the team with 33 goals and 26 assists on the season. With 265 points in her career, Sharp is just 37 shy of the program record.

The teams traded man-up goals early in the fourth with Gibbons netting her 14th goal of the year. The Foresters' six-goal lead eventually grew to 10 with senior Daulath Khan scoring for the 19th time this spring, Srnka and Muñoz each netting her second of the day, and Kroeger accounting for the final tally. Srnka and Muñoz now have 12 and 11 on the year, respectively.

Gibbons added three assists and a game-high seven ground balls, four caused turnovers, and nine draw controls to her stat line for the game. Maher chipped in with six draw controls and the Foresters had a 20-3 advantage as a team in that category.

Senior goalkeeper Cecilia Adams stopped eight of the Eagles' 14 shots on goal and contributed to the visitors' 26-18 edge in ground balls with six of her own.

The victory raised the Foresters' overall record to 7-4 and Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference mark to 5-0. Edgewood fell to 4-9 overall and 3-2 in the league.

Lake Forest will travel to Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday for a noon game.
