A Women's Open title for junior
Emma Kinane highlighted the Foresters' performance at the Illinois Handball Association Men's and Women's Singles Tournament over the weekend.
Kinane was the event's top seed and had a bye in the quarterfinal round. She defeated her semifinal opponent 21-16, 21-12 before coming back to win the championship match 13-21, 21-14, 11-8. It was her first state title after finishing as the runner-up in 2023 and being eliminated in the semifinals a year ago.
Lake Forest senior
Arielle Augustyn rolled 21-0, 21-4 in the quarterfinals of the Women's B Division but fell in the semifinal round.
On the men's side, junior
Jacob Emold and sophomoreÂ
Luca Zenati-Parsons came out on top in the B Division round of 16 but were eliminated in the quarterfinal round. Freshmen
Jonah Davis and
Benjamin Koch produced the same output in the C/Novice bracket with opening round victories but losses in the quarterfinals.
The Foresters will host an invitational doubles event next Saturday before traveling to Mankato, Minnesota, for the Maverick Open the following weekend.
