A dozen Lake Forest College players competed in singles brackets at the 2026 U.S. Handball Association National Collegiate Championships on Friday.
The highest-ranked Forester was junior
Emma Kinane, who competed in the Women's Open Division. She posted a convincing 21-2, 21-4 victory in the round of 16 in the morning but fell in a close 21-4, 18-21, 11-9 decision in the quarterfinals later in the day.
Also competing in the Women's Open bracket was senior
Audrey Peters, who dropped her round of 16 match but came back to win 6-21, 21-20, 11-8 in the Open 9-16 quarterfinals. Her semifinal match on Saturday is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
Two Forester men will also be in action on Saturday. Freshman
Jonah Davis won 21-9, 21-14 in the round of 16 in the B1 Division before switching those game scores during his victory in the quarterfinals. Sophomore
Ayush Sharma had a round of 16 bye in the C3 bracket and prevailed 21-10, 21-11 in the quarterfinals. Saturday morning's semifinals for Davis and Sharma will begin at 10:00 and 11:00, respectively.
Sophomore
Luca Zenati-Parsons dropped the first game 21-6 before taking the second 21-15 and the tiebreaker 11-4 in the Men's A1 Singles round of 16. Meanwhile junior
Jake Emold also came from behind to win 20-21, 21-10, 11-2 in the Men's A2 Singles round of 16. However, both players were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Doubles play will resume on Saturday and a four pairs of Foresters will be in action. Kinane and Peters will play their semifinal match in the Women's Open Division at noon, an hour later than the Women's A Division semifinal for senior
Arielle Augustyn and sophomore
Satoe Tohi. On the men's side Zenati-Parsons and Emold will play in the A Division semifinals at noon and Davis will team up with freshman
Ben Koch in the B Division semis at 1:00 p.m.
The finals for each bracket will be played Sunday morning.
