The Lake Forest Cross country teams kicked off their season at University of Wisconsin Parkside's Vic Godfrey Open on Friday. The women's team placed fifth and the men sixth.

Junior Lettia Hoda was the top Forester finisher and crossed the 4-kilometer race finish line at 15:31, placing her 21st in a field of 100 runners. Coming in nine spots and 13 seconds later was fellow junior Sophie Graham. Sophomores Eleanor Clark and Stella Abernethy finished 69th (18:02) and 71st (18:09) respectfully.

On the men's side, sophomore Owen Lashenik was the top runner for Lake Forest in the 6-kilometer event. He placed 25th out of 103 participants with a time of 19:59. Junior Austin Hewes crossed the finish line in 52nd place with a time of 21:16 and sophomore Demos Manoukis came in 61st place, finishing the race in 21:35.

The Marquette men (25 points) and Winona State women (35 points) claimed first place at the event. The Lake Forest women finished with 153 points and the men with 184.

The Foresters will be back competing in two weeks when they head to Wheaton College to run in the Gil Dodds Invitational taking place on Saturday September 20.
