Lake Forest College men's soccer players
Peter Cirbo and
Christian Karabetsos were named Midwest Conference Offensive and Defensive Performer of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday for their contributions to the Foresters' 4-0 season-opening victory over Saint Mary's University on Saturday.
Cirbo scored the team's second and third goals of the contest and assisted on the fourth. It was the junior midfielder's second two-goal game as a Forester and first career five-point performance.
Cirbo, who led Lake Forest with seven goals and 19 points a season ago, how has 32 points on 11 goals and 10 assists in his career.
Karabetsos, a senior defender, anchored a unit that limited the Cardinals to nine shots, including just three on goal, in the shutout. He was the only member of the team to play all 90 minutes.
It was the first start for Karabetsos since the 2022 season finale.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Cirbo also earned the honor once during his freshman year.
