Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Foresters Top Benedictine 3-1 in Non-Conference Matchup

The Lake Forest College men's soccer team improved to 2–0 on the year with a convincing 3–1 victory at Benedictine on Thursday afternoon. The Foresters controlled play throughout the match, creating chances in the attack while staying organized defensively to limit the Eagles' opportunities.

Lake Forest opened the scoring in the 16th minute when junior Nathan Kostovetsky slotted home a finish to the low right corner after a well-placed pass from senior Chad Endozo. Benedictine briefly pulled even in the 40th minute, but the Foresters wasted little time regaining momentum. Senior Peter Cirbo calmly converted a penalty kick less than three minutes later, and just before halftime junior Nathan Kostovetsky struck again, this time to the low left side off a feed from Cirbo, giving Lake Forest a 3–1 advantage at the break.

The Foresters continued to dictate the pace in the second half, outshooting Benedictine 20–10 overall and 14–2 in shots on goal. The back line and midfield stayed composed against pressure, while goalkeeper support helped keep the Eagles from mounting a comeback. Statistically, Lake Forest also tallied a pair of assists and forced Benedictine into a red card and three yellow cards over the course of the contest.

With the win, the Foresters remain unbeaten at 2–0 to start the season and will look to extend their strong form when they travel to Dominican University (IL) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
