The Lake Forest College men's golf team was the runner-up at the three-day St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament, which concluded on Tuesday.

The Foresters finished the 54-hole event with a program record score of 867 (+3), which was six shots better than the previous mark set at least year's SLIAC Championships. Tuesday's final tally of 293 (+5) matched Sunday's performance as the 13th-lowest mark in program history while Monday's 281 (-7) ranks tied-for-second in team annals.

Mississippi University for Women repeated as conference champions with a score of 853 (-11). Lake Forest trailed the Owls by 14 strokes after the opening round, cut the deficit to eight on Monday, and closed to within five shots at one point during the final round. Lyon College was third in the standings, just one stroke behind the Foresters.

Sophomore Tyler Wengronowitz also broke the program's 54-hole record as an individual with a final score of 211 (-5). After 70s in each of his first two rounds, he carded a 1-under 71 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for second place overall, just one shot off the lead. Wengronowitz had four birdies on Tuesday, including one on the final hole, and led all players with 14 during the tournament.

Joining Wengronowitz as a First Team All-SLIAC honoree (top eight) was senior Chris Petri, who also had a 71 on Tuesday and finished the event a shot under par at 215. He matched the third-best three-day score in school history and will graduate on Saturday with the second-lowest career scoring average (77.43) of any Forester who has completed his career.

Lake Forest also had a pair of Second Team All-SLIAC selections in senior Luke Duffer and sophomore Tyler Schick. Duffer fired a 75 and Schick a 79 on Tuesday and their identical three-round total of 222 ranked 13th in the field of 63 players and matched the seventh-best score in team history. Duffer also owns the fourth-best career scoring average (77.84) of any Lake Forest player who has completed his career.

Junior Ben Shamberg carded a 4-over 76 in the final round to climb a spot into a tie for 18th place in the overall standings at 224. As the Foresters' last player out on the course, his par on his final hole held off Lyon for the team's second-place finish.

Single-season school records for Wengronowitz and the Foresters were also solidified on Tuesday. His scoring average of 72.92 was nearly two shots better than the previous mark while Schick's 74.58 tanks second. Lake Forest's final mark of 297.50 is more than five shots per round better than the record posted by last year's team.

In addition to setting records, Wengronowitz was the Foresters' representative on the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team and Lake Forest received the league's Team Sportsmanship Award.
