Lake Forest College men's golfer
Tyler Wengronowitz was named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season on Monday.
Wengronowitz was the individual champion by two strokes and Lake Forest as the runner-up at the Forester Spring Invite on Friday and Saturday. Leading a field of 108 players, the sophomore matched the second-lowest score in school history with a 4-under 68 in round one before tying the program record with a 6-under 66 on Saturday. He birdied 11 of Countryside Golf Club's 18 holes at least once over the course of the tournament and had just one bogey in each round. His 36-hole total of 134 is the best in team history by four strokes, breaking a record set in 1962.
With a scoring average of 73.47 this year, Wengronowitz is on pace to shatter the school record of 74.80 set in 2022-23. He has now finished in the top 10 in five of the Foresters' 10 events, including all three so far this month.
SLIAC Players of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Wengronowitz also earned the award on September 9 and April 7.
