The Lake Forest College handball team is in Portland, Oregon, this week competing in the U.S. Handball Association National Collegiate Championships. Friday's action was made up of the round of 16 in all singles brackets and the quarterfinals in the higher divisions.
Senior
Zach Dybal was the last Forester to finish Friday night. After coming back and edging out his opponent 3-15, 15-9, 11-10 in the Men's A1 Singles Division, he dropped a narrow 15-11, 15-14 decision in the quarterfinals.
Making it through to Saturday was freshman Ian Zenati-Parsons in the Men's B3 Singles bracket. He prevailed 15-0, 15-5 and will compete in the quarterfinal round Saturday morning.
Also playing on Saturday will be junior
Gota Akagiri and freshman
Ayush Sharma in the Men's C4 Singles Division.
The Foresters had three players in the Women's Open Singles bracket and two of them made it past the round of 16. Freshman
Jodie Keeling won her first round contest 21-5, 21-9 while sophomore
Emma Kinane came out on top 21-8, 21-3. Both players were eliminated in the quarterfinals. Junior
Audrey Peters fell in her first match on Friday and will begin playing in the Women's Open 9-16 Division on Saturday.

Miley Ashby, and freshman Sahoe Tohi were defeated in the opening round in the Women's B Singles Division, as was sophomore
Jacob Emold in the Men's C2 bracket.
In addition to the continuation of singles bracket play, Saturday's competition will include the semifinal round in doubles. Kinane and Peters are attempting to defend their national championship from a season ago.
