The Lake Forest College handball team was in action over the weekend at the Milwaukee Classic.
Foresters captured championships in three brackets, including the Women's B Division, where sophomore
Satoe Tohi edged out her opponent 21-19, 21-16 in the final after more convincing victories in the quarterfinals and semifinals.
Two of Sunday's finals featured Forester comebacks. Junior
Jacob Emold dropped the first game 21-15 but took the second 21-11 and the tiebreaker 11-9 to win the C Division title. Meanwhile, freshman
Jonah Davis followed a similar path in the Novice Division, where he lost game one 21-11 but prevailed 21-16 in the second and 11-4 in the tiebreaker.
Lake Forest had a pair of Women's Open Division players in senior
Audrey Peters and junior
Emma Kinane. Both players prevailed in the round of 16 but fell in the quarterfinals. Senior
Arielle Augustyn was defeated in the B Division round of 16 before reaching the bracket's consolation final.
On the men's side, sophomore
Luca Zenati-Parsons reached the B Division semifinals while senior
Gota Akagiri and freshman
Tyren Singleton advanced to the quarterfinals in the Novice Division, The Foresters also had both participants in the Novice Division consolation final, where freshman
Benjamin Koch defeated sophomore
Ayush Sharma 15-3, 15-2.
The next event on Lake Forest's schedule is the Illinois Handball Association Singles Tournament January 16-18.
